Things to know about the species.
The Species
The Necromancer Hound is a fierce spiritual creature created in the purgatory world. They have the ability to cross to the real world to bring back rogue spirits, or if they are called upon by a necromancer/shaman etc etc.
However, if the necromancer is inexperienced, does not preform the summoning right, or their own spirit & soul is insufficient to that of the hound it brings forth, the hound cannot be controlled and will turn on the summoner. Killing him/her and drag their own spirit to the purgatory world for all eternity. (lol, don't play with fire.)
When properly summoned the hound can be controlled and act as an ally to hunt down or protect you from enemies. It has the ability in the real world to drift through walls, the floor, you name it. The hound cannot be killed by any weapon, only if the person who summons it can send it back to purgatory or if he/she is killed.
It has a pouch on its throat that howls a high pitch scream which is used to bring the dead to life.
They HATE sunlight. In the daytime they move with the shadows.
------------------------------------------------------
Their Life
Necros are born in the mist of the purgatory world, they're like spirits. They don't age like any normal canines. They can live for hundreds, maybe thousands of years before dying. Time for them stands still in the purgatory world, but they age begins to move forward once in the real world.
If they are summoned by a strong Necromancer, they may stay in the real world for years till it's summoner dies or is sent back by them.
When they do die they begin to fade after some time if they visit the real world too much. Once a necro's time is over they are reborn as a new different necro. Almost like how a phoenix dies.
When they know their time has come they fade into the mist, dissolving. Like how sand moves with the wind. With the years and experiences it holds, forms a new necro. Take note, the more experience the previous one has had, the more power the new one gains, rather than a necro who's spent all its years in the purgatory world.
Its just like in the wild, when a female searches for a strong healthy male to ensure it's litter will be strong as well, except the female is the mist. lolz
------------------------------------------------------
The Necro Hound Community:
Alphas- Guardians & Summoned Ones
Betas- Platoon Patrol
Omegas- Loners/Slackers
Rogues- Bad Necros
Blackguards The Damned Ones
Alabasters The Divine Ones
In the Purgatory world there are statuses like that of a wolf pack.
Alphas- They are the strongest, oldest and most experienced ones who guard the gates to Heaven, Hell, the human world & are the ones who get summoned. They are the alphas. Don't mess with them. There are usually two or 3 hounds that guard a gate. There are different gates that don't even lead to Heaven, Hell or the human world. These must be guarded by the alphas as well.
NOTE: There are less alphas than betas & omegas. (They don't have to be guarding a gate 24-7 all the time either, but they do have to be near it.)
Betas- They are the middle aged, less experienced and younger then the alphas. They are in training to be alphas. Their job is to patrol the world around them. They keep the spirits in line, check for anything unusual and search for open rips in their world that might lead to any others. They go in platoon groups of four. Betas are strong but do NOT have the ability to be summoned and cross to the human or any other world.
NOTE: You may draw your own platoon. 4 in one group. There are more betas than alphas & close to the same # as omegas.
Omegas- These are the newborns who just lounge around, roam alone or in their on click. Lazy bastards, lolz. Some will try to make their way into a platoon but the leader of that platoon will chase them off if they know they aren't ready. If their previous life has had much experience and was very powerful, the reincarnated omega might join a platoon faster than others.
NOTE: There are more omegas than alphas & close to the same # as betas.
Switching Positions
If one of the Alpha hounds are summoned, the platoon leader of the beta hounds will take it's place until the alpha one gets back. Then the beta of the platoon group will become leader and let an omega in the platoon, if it wants to. Sometimes thats not always the case.
Once the alpha returns then the beta hound goes back to it's regular occupation and the hound taking its place returns to theirs. Then the platoon leader will rudely kick the omega back out of the group if he/she finds them insufficient.
When an alpha hound passes away, the beta platoon leader is promoted to an alpha hound, completely takes the old hound's place. Then the strongest platoon hound will become a beta leader and allow an omega to join.
Its an non-stop rotation.
------------------------------------------------------
Are they Good or Evil creatures?
They are all about balance in the purgatory world. They are the guards. Their job is to keep spirits in line and guard the gates of hell so no rogue spirits go in or set loose any demons. So if a necro dies, there must be a new one to replace it. Its like if an employee leaves the job on the spot with no notice, a new one must take its place as soon as possible.
Human World
They can be either good or evil in the real world depending who summons them and to use them at what purpose. But since mostly sinister people summon them for power and an advantage to their needs, they are considered evil spirits to humans who don't know about their true origin.
Purgatory World
Rogue Necros
A rogue necro can be either a normal omega, beta or alpha necro who has been twisted with rebellious greedy tendencies.
It mostly occurs in betas and omegas who want to become alphas. They hunger for power and desire nothing but their own satisfaction in to getting what they want. They are sneaky, aggressive, cunning, stubborn, impatient and hold strong grudges against anyone who stands in their way. One will go as far as to destroying the balance if it must.
Their appearance carries many lost limbs and scars as punishment for their behavior. Some are even sentenced to death.
They lose the official privilege of ever becoming an alpha necro in their community, seeing as they can't be trusted.
The Blackguard Necros/The Damned Ones
They are the dark, evil and dreaded side to this species. They are rare, rare Necro hounds called blackguards. And this is where an omega can become dangerous. A blackguard hound is an omega necro who has been taken over by an evil spirit or demon while it is going through its reborn process. This is because the hound is at it's weakest.
The spirit/demon can dominate it's life source, able to control it and give it enough strength to take on an alpha. It will also have the ability to cross over to any world, creating anarchy, destruction and death. Sometimes it will take more than one alpha to take one down, depends on what kind of demon possesses it.
blackguards don't give a rat's @ss about balance. They want to kill, kill, kill!
They take the appearance & characteristics of the demon who has taken over them. They might have horns, wings over-bites under-bites, overlarge teeth, extra limbs, size growth, longer claws etc etc.
The Alabaster Necros/The Divine Ones
Where there is a Yin, there is a Yang.
When a blackguard hound is on the loose, sometimes being an alpha isn't enough. So then a lucky alpha necro would be chosen & given the special touch of an angel to help them maintain the balance and have enough strength to take down a blackguard.
An alpha necro's body fur will change to pure white and it's markings & claws will turn to gold and glow. They will even sometimes sprout feathery wings. Their eyes stay the same. The Alpha will only be in this divine state until the blackguard is defeated, then it turns back to normal. This is not a permanent state. They can't turn it on and off as they please. They have to be fighting a blackguard to be given this heavenly power.
------------------------------------------------------
The Body
The body is thin, long tail, snout and bat-like ears. They have sharp canine teeth and a fork serpent tongue. The eyes have no pupils and glow brightly. Its appearance is close to that between a greyhound and a pharaoh hound. The fur is short. There are spiked fins that start from the head down the back. They rise when they're mad and and fall back when relaxed (which isn't often). There is a pouch located on the throat.
Their Height
Depending on their previous life, their height can be up to an astounding 107 cm (42.2 in). A bit taller than a great dane, but no bigger. Females are usually smaller than the males. It depends on how your character is bred. They can be on the runt side or a normal size.
Scars, Injuries & Blood
Necro hounds cannot be harmed by any weapon in the human world for they are like ghosts. But a necro hound CAN inflict damage on another hound. They are able to scar or even rip an ear, leg, part of their tail off or something! WHOO! FIGHT! :strip: ...ahem.
Necro hounds don't have blood but a silver like ooze that kinda resembles blood will seep out of them if hurt.
------------------------------------------------------
Difference between Male & Female
They have no reproductive organs, but they can be either male or female.
A male is usually bigger than the female and are more built in frame.
The females are a bit smaller than the males & have more of a temper Also they're features are more slender.
They are born in the mist of the purgatory world so there's no mating. ( lolz)
But they can conduct a relationship with another necro as a partner. A necro can also tell if one is male or female by the spiritual essence it gives off.
------------------------------------------------------
How a Necro Hound is Summoned
Necro hounds are summoned by ancient summoning stoned tablets placed in hidden sacred temples around the world and are extremely hard to find. These tablets, when used correctly, can open a doorway between our world and the spirit world.
The tablets when touched give the summoner the knowledge they need to summon a hound. But if the summoner's soul and spirit is insufficient or not strong enough, the hound will kill the summoner and bring them back to the purgatory world for all eternity. Sealing the door behind them to make sure the balance is kept maintained.
------------------------------------------------------
The Purgatory World
The PW looks a lot like what it would on earth, in my point of view anyway, only more misty/foggy, grey-ish, not really any sunlight but not exactly dark. There are mountains, valleys, ghost towns (where spirits dwell) you know, just like earth only more...depressing if thats the right word.
You can make your own spiritual creatures/animals in the PW as well co-existing with your necro characters.
------------------------------------------------------
Creating your own Necros
Color
Necromancer Hounds come in different colors. Red, blue, green, gold, silver, etc etc. The color you've chosen would be your primary color for the tongue, markings and eyes(<--Optional). The most common base color of a necro hound is always darker to the primary color you've chosen, almost to a black. So if you have chosen red as your primary color, the base would be a darker red.
Some necros have a rare secondary color as well.
You can take the primary color and change it to different tones for the markings, fins, pouch etc etc.
Markings
They can have any kind of markings on their bodies to make them individually stand out. They can have spots, stripes, socks, cool little ancient symbols etc etc. NOTE: There is always a stripe on the pouch.
Eyes
Their eyes have no pupils. They always glow. They can be any color you wish.
Optional
You can put scars, collars, necklaces, rings and any other accessories you wish.
------------------------------------------------------
Interesting Info and Notes
-They cannot enter churches in the human world
-They can walk on hollow ground
-Their screams raise the dead for them or their master's bidding.
-A Necro hates the sunlight (it doesn't hurt them, but they don't exactly like it.)
